    Yes, but how can I know that it’s different?

    The easiest way to tell is that at https://laotraisla.com/ at the bottom of the footer, it says “Crea un blog o un sitio web gratuitos con WordPress.com.” which links to https://wordpress.com/ That means it’s hosted on WordPress.com.

    Whereas at https://web.archive.org/web/20170918110058/http://laotraisla.com/ the bottom of the footer says “Funciona con WordPress.” which links to https://es.wordpress.org/ That means it’s hosted elsewhere, but using the WordPress.org software.

    How can you expect me to know if I only receive mails from wordpress.com and I pay THEM directly?

    I don’t expect you to without some explanation, I agree it’s confusing. You’ve definitely been paying WordPress.com annually for the registration of your domain, but based on the archive link and explanation above, you were paying someone else to host the WordPress.org software from at least 2013 to September 18.

    Who explains this to me?

    I’m doing my best.

    And more importantly, who’s been taking my money all of these years?

    I have no way of knowing. I recommend looking through your credit card statements for monthly or annually recurring charges. Check the merchant’s name on those, and do a search via your search engine of choice to see if it’s a hosting provider. Then, of course, contact that hosting provider’s support. They will likely be able to assist you in recovering your site, especially if you’re still a customer.

    And now, no-one is responding for my info.

    I’ve been responding this whole time.

    In the latest mail, someone from support at wordpress told me they found that my hosting site was some jaguarpc. I go to them, I explain, and they don’t have any record of my site.

    It’s possible that your hosting provider could have been a reseller on jaguarpc’s platform, or your account expired and was not renewed, so it was purged from their system (that’s why it’s very important to keep track of who you’re paying for hosting).

    Or, it’s possible that WordPress.com’s support was wrong, which is why I recommend checking your credit card statements. You were definitely paying someone for hosting from at least 2013 through September 18, so it is most likely a recurring monthly or annual charge, and therefore you must have some record of it in your credit card statements. That record will have a merchant name, and that merchant will be the hosting provider.

    I don’t know what to do

    I agree, this is a very stressful and tough situation. Like I said earlier, we only develop and support the WordPress.org software here. We have no control over the hosting provider, the operation of the site, or who bills what. We have no more control over a site published in WordPress.org that Microsoft has over a published novel that was written in Microsoft Word.

    With that said, if you have any further questions, please do let me know, and I’ll do my best to answer them to the best of my ability in a timely manner. I only do this as a volunteer (as does everyone here), so my replies may be a bit slower over the weekend, but I’ll do my best.
