This isn’t a Developing with WordPress topic and I’ve moved it to Fixing WordPess.

So therefore how can we create a child of a child theme?

    Two ways.

    1. Use a plugin. The same CSS queuing and the same add_action and add_filter works.
    2. Accept that you need to fork the other child theme into a new child theme.

There’s no such thing as a grand child theme and that would get pretty recursive if there were. You’re trying to make changes to template files so the second option really is best.

A good child theme won’t change those templates too much though I’m sure the theme you’re mentioning is an exception. You will need to try and keep your new child theme in sync periodically but that shouldn’t be too bad.
