    Sorry for the slow reply. You cannot mess with the page itself, but you can remove the backend menu links leading to it. If one knows the correct URL, they could bypass the menu and directly access the page. To prevent that, you need a redirect of some sort. It may be easiest to use a .htaccess rule for this, though an early WP action hook could detect a profile request and use wp_redirect().

    It’d be a good idea to redirect to a custom page that at least allows users to change their passwords. While there are exceptions, it’s generally poor security practice to not allow users to manage their password.
