    Hello,

    The only .css that needs to be in the root folder is style.css that has all the information needed for the child theme as well.

    Extra css can be enqueued from sub-folders as well you just append the folder when you queue the css for example:

    wp_enqueue_style('child-extra-css', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() .'/SUBFOLDER/extra-style.css', array());

    You just replace subfolder and extra-style.css according to your needs.
