    I would do that, except I have none installed


    I figured out the problem! We still have the default search form code in the searchform.php page, and this code has a function that attempts to call an SVG image. I didn’t clear out that code, and as a result, it’s borking the entire editor. Once I removed it, the code editor came back to life.

    tkgnewseed – switching browsers worked, sort of. Firefox gave me a stack trace back to the issue that was being suppressed by Chrome. That’s where I spotted the error, and now it’s fixed.

    That’s a really horrible way for an editor to break, off an entirely unrelated page elsewhere in the theme. Just…wow.
