This is NOT something to resolve (at least not yet) by restoring a backup. There’s a problem at your host. Something Bad is happening with their database server. I’d contact the host first and ask them if the PHP process serving your sites can be restarted.

This may also be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
