    Multiple WP Install Routing, by Niki Bilejn

    I have 2 wp install on shared hosting cPanel.

    1. MULTISITE wp install in root – Everything works OK.
    2. Single wp install (non-multisite) in subfolder – Can’t login. Wrong password loop, even when password in correct.

    Here is my htaccess files from both installation

    1.Multisite htaccess

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?(.*\.php)$ $2 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    # Wordfence WAF
    <IfModule mod_php5.c>
    php_value auto_prepend_file '/home/xxx/public_html/wordfence-waf.php'
    <Files ".user.ini">
    <IfModule mod_authz_core.c>
    Require all denied
    <IfModule !mod_authz_core.c>
    Order deny,allow
    Deny from all
    # END Wordfence WAF

    2. Single install htaccess

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /sandbox/
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /sandbox/index.php [L]
    # END WordPress
