Can’t upload .gpx files anymore (SOLVED), by blauwhelm

A client of my needs to upload .gpx files to WordPress, so that users can download it. This used to work, but about a week ago this stopped working. I’m not sure what has changed. Now we get the error “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons”. I’ve already placed this mime-type in the functions.php (again, it has worked for several months).

I already tried deactivating all plugins, but that didn’t change anything. Also I can upload .svg files when I add this mime-type to the functions.php. So it’s specific for .gpx files. I also tried a plugin “WP Extra File Types” and selected .gpx there. No succes.

Does anyone has other ideas how to fix this problem?

EDIT: Solved the problem by installing this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-real-mime-check/
