    Within the Wordpress Admin panel, go to the particular post you are trying to remove the image from, and scroll all the way to the bottom and look at the lower right of the page. There should be a box for "Featured Image". Check to see if there is a featured image for that particular post, and if so, remove it. Then try previewing your site and see if it still shows up or not.

    If you are still seeing an image, try checking the settings for your particular theme, there may be something in there to auto assign a featured image to each post, or use some default featured image if one isn't specified - if so, turn that option off and see if that helps.

    craig1985's method is a little different approach, in that it would make the image simply not render in your browser via CSS.

    you've made this theme yourself and you might have copy pasted the code from tutorials you have followed try to find the sample code
    if ( has_post_thumbnail() ) {
    the_post_thumbnail();
    }
    In your single(dot)php file remove it or simply comment it. The above code is used to render thumbnails on posts.
